Fleetwood Mac Tribute Concert Coming to Yadkin Valley Wine Country

Mark your calendar for August 8, 2026. The Surry Arts Council is bringing Landslide, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band, to Blackmon Amphitheatre in Dobson. As listed on Eventbrite, it's a Saturday night show, which means you've got a natural opening to build a real wine country weekend around it.

I've been waiting for an excuse to write about this corner of Surry County. The concert is the hook, but the wineries are the reason to stay longer.

Why August in the Valley Works So Well for This

August is a serious month out here. The vines are heavy, the days are long, and the tasting rooms are humming. If you've never been to Dobson in summer, picture rolling Piedmont hills gone full green, outdoor patios busy through the late afternoon, and evenings that cool off just enough to make an amphitheatre concert genuinely comfortable.

Blackmon Amphitheatre is an intimate outdoor venue. That's not marketing language, that's just the reality of it. You're not in an arena. You're outside, the air smells like summer, and Fleetwood Mac songs sound exactly right in that setting. I'd show up early, get situated, and let the evening come to you.

Surry Cellars: Worth Your Time Before the Show

If you're going to be in Dobson anyway, spending part of the day at Surry Cellars is the obvious move. It sits on the campus of Surry Community College, and that location shapes everything about the experience. This is a working educational winery. Students are learning the craft here, and that gives the tasting room a different energy than you'll find most places.

I genuinely like recommending Surry Cellars to people who are newer to wine. The atmosphere invites questions. Nobody's going to make you feel like you don't belong if you don't know the difference between a Muscadine and a Cabernet Franc. They pour both, and they're happy to talk through either.

The wine lineup runs from dry reds and whites through semi-dry options and Muscadine wines. That last category matters more than most people realize. Muscadine is native to North Carolina, and tasting it here, in the state where it actually grows, gives you context you can't get from reading about it.

Plan for an hour or two if you want to taste through their range and take in the vineyard views. The grounds are picnic-friendly, so if you want to grab lunch in Dobson and bring it out, that works.

One practical note: confirm their hours before you go. They've typically been open Fridays but closed Mondays, so if you're stretching this into a long weekend, check ahead so you don't miss them.

Building the Rest of Your Weekend

Surry County has more to offer than one stop. The region has developed a real wine scene over the past couple of decades, and the wineries around Dobson each bring something different. I'd use the concert as your Saturday anchor and fill in the rest of the weekend from there.

Saturday makes itself: morning or afternoon tasting at Surry Cellars, maybe a second stop if you're feeling ambitious, then dinner somewhere in town before heading to Blackmon Amphitheatre for the show. Sunday is wide open for more exploring before you head home.

If you want a mapped-out route and help deciding what fits your pace and preferences, that's exactly what we built the trip planner for.

A Few Things Worth Knowing

August evenings here can shift. It'll be warm, but once the sun drops it cools faster than you'd expect. Bring a layer for the concert, especially if you're sitting toward the end of the show. And if you're driving in from out of town, Dobson is small, so book lodging sooner rather than later. Summer weekends fill up.

The Surry Arts Council does good work putting events like this together. A Fleetwood Mac tribute at an outdoor amphitheatre in wine country is exactly the kind of thing that deserves a full weekend, not just a single evening.
